Swell Weekends are back!
For many years we ran super succesful Swell Weekends at the Melvich hotel. Sadly when the hotel closed down these were put on hold but we have now partnered with The House of the Northern Gate and Seaview Sauna to bring the surf retreat back.. and this time even better. We have exclusive use of a beautifully appointed estate house, perched on the edge of Dunnet head with views of the waves, beach and North Atlantic. Our own private chef will provide meals everyday and we'll provide daily surf lessons. An onsite sauna will be available for the perfect post surf recovery aswell!
Working with Steve Backshall
We worked with the adventure TV presenter Steve Backshall and True to Nature for their TV series: Whale. Our skippers and RIB spent a week helping capture footage of seals, orcas and dolphins for the programme in Spring 2023. It's available to watch on Sky and NOW TV. Our skippers and RIB are avilable for any media productions around the North of Scotland in 2024, just give us a shout for any inquiries.
A Gaelic surf lesson on BBC ALBA
Growing up on Tiree, Finn did all of his Primary school years in Gaelic. BBC ALBA approached us, wanting to feature us giving their presenter a surf lesson in the programme 'Mach a` Seo'. Finn managed to remember his teachings from school and carried out the lesson/ interview in Gaelic. You can check out the TV programme on BBC ALBA iplayer.
New base for North Coast Watersports!
For a year we were working behind the scenes to create our own business base. Thanks to Highlands & Islands Enterprise and Craigie Joinery, the build was complete in June 2023 and we moved in. This is a huge step forward for North Coast Watersports! We have our own building overlooking Dunnet beach and a perfect space to store our equipment. Theres also a wetsuit wash/ dry area, outside shower, inside wetsuit dry room, reception and toilet.

Iona wins the Ladies Scottish Surf champion Title!!
Our coach Iona wins the national title in April 2019 after returning home from travelling the world. Before out growing the junior category Iona previously won the under 18's girls title 3 years running! How about coming and learning to surf with our top coaches:)
Is it really cold?
With our thick 5mm wetsuits the answer is no...We have alot of people worried about the cold when surfing in the north sea with us but have a look at some of our previous customers reviews to put your mind at ease-
TV crew come to Dunnet and film us!
In May 2019 a TV crew from Glasgow came and filmed us giving their presenter a surf lesson! how cool is that:) and check out Dunnets amazing sand junes in the background.
