Dunnet is gifted with 2 incredible wood fired saunas at both ends of the bay. Below you can find out whats on offer, locations, schedules and how to combine a sauna with your surf session.
Clach Mara Sauna- This beautiful Finnish style sauna is located right next to the beach on the South end of Dunnet bay (known as Castletown beach). Here you can easily jump between the heat and the sea while taking in the view. And if you'd like to combine this with a surf lesson, we offer lessons at this side of the beach and timed to finish just before the sauna sessions start on specific days. This means after a surf you can walk 2 minutes round the coast and go straight into the sauna!
To book, book with Clach Mara Sauna and North Coast Watersports seperately (we recommend checking availability on both websites first). Please note the exact schedule for Clach Mara is only released a few weeks ahead and is usually just open on Saturdays and Sundays.
To book a surf lesson that ties in with a sauna session, go to book a group or private lesson as normal, click on a date on the availability calander and if the lesson is located and timed with the sauna, a photo of the beach with text stating 'Beachside sauna available after this surf lesson' will pop up. See the photo below of what it will look like.
If you don't see this, the lesson will be our usual timings at the North end of the beach. Don't worry if you can't see the date you're looking for- get in touch and we can try accomodate any requests!
Seaview Sauna- This coastal sanctuary is a 5 minute drive from the beach, located on top of Dunnet head with incredible ocean views over the bay. Its equipped with 3 whisky barrel cold plunges, a cold outside bath and an outside shower so you can make the most of the contrast therapy.
